The Grand Oaks RV Resort
Here is the tentative schedule of events for the upcoming Winter Rally:
We have what could be a record number of attendees at a Shalom Roamers Rally – 26 registrants!!
Bob Lewis is hosting the rally and is working on the activities for the week (subject to change) and this is a preliminary activity schedule to help get you excited about the rally.

Daily: schmooze around 3:00pm
Tuesday: arrival day: Meet and greet schmooze beginning 4:00pm.
5:50: Dinner – Pot Luck. Discuss activities for individuals and as a group.
Wednesday: Bagel breakfast in the rally room beginning at 9:00am followed by Shalom Roamers think tank session. For those interested, we will go to TooJays in the Villages for dinner. Thursday: daytime activities on your own. Some folks have made reservations for the Elvis Christmas Show at the Orange Blossom Opry beginning at 7:00pm. If you would like to attend the show, please go to www.obopry.com to make your reservations. The show is December 18 at 7:00pm. The event is at the Orange Blossom Opry; 16439 SE 138th Terrace; Weirsdale, FL 32195 Click here for Google Maps directions.
Friday: Shabbat Dinner followed by Services at Temple Beth Shalom in the Villages beginning at 5:00pm.
Saturday: Lunch in Mount Dora for those who might be interested.
Unfortunately, the Teahouse went out of business. Suggested restaurants for a group to gather at for brunch – The Lakeside Inn with dining in their Beauclaire Dining area followed by relaxation on the verandah with lakefront views. A sample of their menu is attached to the email. There is also the 1921 Mount Dora restaurant nearby.
Registrants are not obligated to do brunch as a group and may choose any of the other dozen plus restaurantsin the area. Mt Dora is a “cutesy” town with many shops and a few tours.

For those who might be interested, I can put on a fly-fishing clinic.
There is a nice lake at Grand Oaks. If anyone is interested in doing guided fishing in the area on one of the many lakes, that is possible as well (Marcy caught a lot of bass and brought them back for dinner !)
The skies are pretty dark at night so observing the night sky is a fun thing to do.
There is nightly entertainment in the various parts of the Villages.

And the resort cautions to use only the RV PARK ENTRANCE. Do Not Use Marion County Road as it is not suitable for large RVs.

There is a small rally fee of $10/FRVA member or $20/Shalom Roamers Friend who is not an FRVA member. You may join the FRVA by clicking this link.
Please register for your campsite directly with Grand Oaks.
The Grand Oaks RATE is $65 per night plus tax for RV spots or $150 per night plus tax for a cottage. Shalom Roamers has reserved 12 RV Spots and two cottages. Please register early to ensure our group is co-located for maximum socialization.
